I lived in Duluth, MN for 5 years, which is about 2 hours from where I live now. It's right along Lake Superior and I know that if I REALLY need to get away and escape for a little bit I can go sit on the shore, soak in the lake and the cool breeze, and get reenergized.

the longest road trip you've taken ... solo or with a road trip buddy?
3,800 miles over 7 days with another photographer, Jenn Barnett. Minnesota to New Jersey, up to Boston, then back to MN.
when visiting a new city, what intangible items are you hoping to capture?
I always want to capture what it is that gives that city its energy.
what is your favorite junk food when traveling?
Cliff Bars, trail mix, tons of coffee, yogurt-covered pretzels, lime Perrier, and Twizzlers.
describe your favorite local hang-out.
Most of my days are spent at coffee shops, and my nights at music venues. I'm not the most loyal to any of them, but they fill specific needs. Anodyne has great food and relatively reliable wifi, Spyhouse has the Compound Red, but their wifi makes me lust after dial-up, Urban Bean plays superb music, and the Varsity Theater's lighting never disappoints me or my camera.
what inspires you to take the next step by photographing, writing, or composing a song about the area you're in?
I find it fascinating and inspiring when photographers can shoot a series of images that tells the exact story of a particular place. I, however, am more of a single-moment girl. I've always felt split-second moments much more than entire days/weeks/months/years, so when I'm photographing something, I don't really think of how I can tell its entire story, I just want to capture how it was for 1/125 of a second, when I loved it most.
